How to have geofencing set Away temperature when the Home temperature was manually overridden

I have a v2 Smart Thermostat running a simple schedul that maintains a daytime temperature of 20c. I have Away mode set to maintain a temperature of 10c.

Scenario: I'm at home and manually increase the thermostat temperature to 21c. Some time later I leave home and Tado correctly sets geofencing to Away mode. However, it continues heating to 21c! It is only when I notice this and go into the app and select Resume Schedule that Tado actually sets the thermostat to 10c!

Surely, when switching to Away status, the Away schedule should be adopted irrespective of any manually overridden Home temperature? Am I missing something here? Is there some hidden config setting that would provide this logical behaviour?

  • I have something similar. This is the first time I am away since installing and getting auto assist. The heating is still on in my home and the temperatures are random not matching any scheduled setting
  • Experimenting, manually setting away does set the temperature correctly. I only paid for auto assist a few days ago and haven’t rebooted the internet bridge. Tado support told me the auto assist was linked to the bridge not the thermostat when I spoke to them recently.

    I will try that tomorrow.
  • Reading Tado support my odd temperatures are probably because I am only three miles away and auto assist is set to Balance. I would therefore expect when I visit my son soonthe temperature would be different as he is 80miles away
