Heating gets stuck on “set to”

My heating gets stuck on “set to” rather than “heating to”. It’s super flakey if it moves from set to heating. Some rooms are on and some are not. Who else has had this issue?

  • I have the same problem and its seriously annoying, almost as annoying as Tado not actually being available to speak

  • I've just posted similar, mine seems to overshoot and the boiler stays on long after it has reached the target temp. Then it goes well below the target temp before it switches on again. This results in the room temp fluctuating by +/- 2c

It has replaced a local Hive which although limited with functionality was good at keeping a stable temp.

Dread to think how much this Tado is going to be costing in extra gas :(

  • Give it time to learn how your rooms perform

Even if you set the heating to x and the temp is below that, the temp might be rising so tado doesn't think it will need to turn on the heating
  • Thanks for replying but I’ve had this system for 2 years. Heat can be down at 15, and temp set to 20 and it can still choose to not come on. Must be connected to the internet because I’m getting the live temp back.
I wish I could get rid of it! Would never buy it again. Support just don’t reply to me.
  • Hello @Lauramahy

Sorry your having difficulties…however the last support conversation I could find linked to your email address is from December 28 and you only interacted with the chatbot briefly. How have you been trying to get into contact with support?

  • I haven’t had a response from 28th Dec. I didn’t bother to try again when I didn’t get a response. I can’t even see my previous message. Are you able to answer my question?
  • Hello again @Lauramahy

As I am not a support agent, I cannot perform a detailed investigation of the problem at hand. Please write support again and select 'talk to a person' when prompted. You'll find an overview of how to use the chat here.

  • Hi all

New to the community. I have had my Tado X installed for around 5 weeks now, it's been superb up until today where I can only get the heating to come on by using 'boost all'. If i try and turn each thermostat on separately it says 'set to' but doesn't come on/ heat.
Does anyone know what the issue could be? It's the same ond android phone and wife's iPhone.
    Thank you
  • On the rare occasions (maybe twice in 3.5 years) when Tado has seemed unwilling to turn the boiler on a simple fix that's worked for me is to restart/reboot my wired smart thermostat by long pressing for more than 10 seconds on the button on the front. It's like rebooting a computer. Alternatively, try rebooting the wireless bridge with the same technique.

  • Thank you for your reply. That was going to be my next step when I got home tonight, fingers crossed it does the trick. Will report back.
  • Hopefully cured this issue, had to take the batteries out of the wireless x controller and all of my thermostats. Left it for a minute then put them all back and and it's now been working ok for a couple of hours.
