Desperate for an answer on TRV calling for heat

I reached out to support but frankly the response is beyond poor and taking over a day. I have 5 TRV's upstairs and downstairs I have 5 wired Thermostats. When the TRV's upstairs need heat, no call to the boiler is made and they stay cold unless one of the thermostats downstairs is calling for heat. I ready through the forums and read that support can change the setting so all TRV's can call for heat independently. A 2 min job apparently :-) I have tried it with controller and without but do difference, and so upstairs only heats up when downstairs is on which is no good. Anyone got any suggestions please?

Can you advise what other tado components are in your system? I'm assuming you might have a wireless receiver/extension kit?

Can you also give some more details on the heating system. What are the wired smart thermostats connected to?

In order for the TRVs to be able to call for heat, they need to have a zone controller set. You can do this yourself in the app. I would suggest the following

    1. Go to Settings then Rooms & Devices. Choose a room with a smart thermostat, and look to see what the zone controller is set as. Here's one of mine as an example
    2. Take a note of the zone controller.
    3. Now go back and choose a room with a TRV and set its zone controller to be the same device.
    4. Come back to the main screen and try setting the temperature on the TRV so that it should call for heat. Check that the heating comes on and the radiator warms up.
    5. If that works, do it for the other TRVs. If not, come back and report the results and the community will endeavour to assist further

  • Just had this reply back from support which is completely not correct -

Hi,Thank you for your patience.Could you tell us the exact time and date when this issue started?I have thouroghly investigated your case with my colleagues and we went through the necessary documentation and in your case, it is the 3 levels of control.Let me remind you that the 3 levels of control are the systems where the Boiler Programmer controls the central heating boiler. On each floor, there is a wired Smart Thermostat controlling a heating zone. In addition, the radiators are equipped with Smart Radiator Thermostats. The SRTs would need to call for heat from the Smart Thermostatss and the Smart Thermostats from the Receiver. This option with tado° is not possible, because we do not support the 3 levels of control. This issue is solved with our Line X, but with V3+ line it is not possible. The main complaint we get from our customers mentions '' My radiators are not able to call for heat ''. So please bear in mind that this might be due to the issue of having 3 levels of control.
If there is a zone valve controlling the rooms with Smart Radiator Thermostats it would be best to remove them. Once you remove your Smart Radiator Thermostats, you could use your old thermostatic valves and keep them on the maximum temperature. Please note that you would have to control your radiators manually in this case.Let me know if you need any further assistance.Kind regards,Helena

  • Have you checked that the TRVs are not set to independent, and out of interest what is your zone controller ? Is it a wireless receiver ?
