Better explanation with regards to termination of the old thermostat wiring.

I have recently installed the V3+ system and everything went well with regards the installation. I could see all the devices on the app and all the test procedures passed on the Wireless Receiver. However, the heating and hot water would not work. I was convinced I had done everything correctly and was struggling to understand why , when I could see everything on the Tado app, there was still no HW or CH. I stripped the Tado system out and reinstalled the old system and it all worked fine.

Tado customer support were contacted who asked me to reinstall the system for them to be able to troubleshoot. I did this at a pre-arranged time and the agent was very helpful in confirming that the system appeared to be correct and offered advice on how to further test the system.

Cutting a very long story short, the "simple" error I had made was the termination of the old 2 wire thermostat. Instead of terminating these wires together to make a circuit, I terminated them separately. I went through the Tado video and instructions booklets to see how I could have made such a simple mistake, but in my defense, it is not clear on the installation instructions. Yes, there is a section about the termination of the thermostat wiring, but this is only for a 3 wire connection. I had a 2 wire connection and nowhere did it mention that these MUST be terminated together. I think Tado need to make this clearer to cover all potential customer wiring scenarios.

Anyway, system is now up and running fine. I now need to fit the TRV's that came with the system which I hope are going to be easy too.

Hello @spcleary welcome. Pleased to hear that you have got you Tado system up and running. In your defence, there are so many different programmer/timers, thermostats, wiring centres and boilers etc that 'simple' wiring errors are a regular theme on this community site.
