how to set V3+ with smart valves

Hi,

I've recently installed a set of smart radiator valves (added to my existing V3+ thermostat).

My question is if I set all rooms to say 25° for all valves during the day time, how do I control the V3+ thermostat. Do I set this to 25° for 24 hours a day?

If my V3+ thermostat is set to say 20° & the valves to 25° which one rules?

As I have set different temperatures for different rooms at different times, I;m not sure how the thermostat controls all scenarios, surely the thermostat is now "obsolete" as a thermostat?

Any help/advise gratefully received.

Hello @MRHEXP1 The answers to your questions depend how your Tado system is configured.

    • Temperature measurement? With multiple Tado devices in a Room, one device will be the temperature measuring device. The thermostat will usually be the default.
    • 'Zone controller'? The Room can be assigned to a 'zone controller' and can 'call for heat' to reach its set time/temperature.
    • 'Independent'. With the Room set as 'Independent' the TRV acts like a 'time/temperature' dumb TRV and can't 'call for heat'. It will rely on another Room to 'call for heat' from the boiler; e.g. the Room with the Thermostat.
    • The thermostat should not be obsolete. If you add it to a Room with a TRV, it's a more accurate device for temperature measurement. +/-0.1 deg C versus +/-0.5 deg C.
