Unusual installation

I have 3 existing Danfoss controllers on my system. Danfoss TS715 for the hot water cylinder (utility Room), and two Danfoss TP5000 Si - one for upstairs heating and one for downstairs. Potterton Assure 18 Boiler.
The controllers all operate separate motorised valves, so even the "hot water" is seen as a radiator load by the boiler.
My main requirement is
a) have a wireless thermostat - I want the downstairs thermostat in a different room - without the need to rewire.
b) be able to turn on the downstairs heating remotely.
c) at some future point maybe add a wired controller for the upstairs circuit (but not essential).
To this end, I was expecting to replace the downstairs thermostat with the Tado Receiver, and position the wireless thermostat in the new preferred location.
When going through the automated installation instructions, they stop at the wireless receiver, as they say it must be connected to the boiler.
Any advice gratefully received.

The receiver will switch the valve (and hence the boiler) but it does require a mains supply but I imagine your existing controller does too. What type of system (Y, S) are you telling the instructions that you're introducing the receiver into ?

  • I have investigated further, unfortunately the existing controller doesn't have power, there is an internal battery and just 2 wires connected. I have had a look around the system, and all the Danfoss controllers connect to a terminal block in the cylinder cupboard. I Guess I will need to figure out how to connect the TADO receiver into this block. The two white wires to the cylinder, the three black wires to the motorised valves; the controller wires come from underneath.
