Matter Device Linking

As many will know I have a Tado X system, 16 x Rad valves with Wireless X Receiver.

I use the Tado Android App on a Pixel Fold 1 running Android 15.

Since I had this system I have tried a number of times to use the Matter Device Linking option. I have been able to make it work only by factory resetting the Rad Valves. The linking works for a bit but after a while it disappears and I see this…

I have asked the Tado Chat Bot / Tado Support and they only came back with the standard link https://help.tado.com/en/articles/10264695-how-can-i-fix-matter-device-linking-errors

I feel there is something deeper going on…

Have any of you experienced similar issues when trying to use Matter Device Linking?

  • Same here, but with latest android app the button have come back although it can't be activated. It is only working with one of my X thermostats. Tado really needs to up their work on this product. At the moment it feels like it is the users who fixes things and not Tado.
  • I found the option comes and goes, as you say Tado need to up their game.

We all paid lots of money for the X system over the V3 system and we need to see our investment run smoothly .

  • I use the iOS version of the app and have not seen that issue. However, the Apple Home app cannot see humidity readings from the Tado X devices. Furthermore, in the Eve Home app, the Tado devices all have a red warning triangle next to them in the settings/accessories section. When looking at the details of each device, they all say "unreachable, last connected X minutes ago" where X is never more than a few minutes. I cannot adjust temperature in the Eve app as the buttons to do so are disabled. This is far from a major issue but does backup the assertion that all is not well with the Matter implementation.

  • I have 9 valves and I managed to add most of them to home assistant through matter but with lots of struggles. Sometimes the linking option was not available at all and other times it just says there is a problem. At the moment I think I have 5 or 6 linked, 2 I have not even tried yet and 1 does not link. My current theory is that the problem is related with the range to the bridge and the WiFi network. I have a dual band mesh system and it seems the tado X system does not like it that much.
  • @cardella I have had the same problems. I know that Range or Signal Strength is not an issue in my case.
