Opentherm - Flow temperature optimization thoughts
Hello to the community!
New Tado X user here and this is my first post.
Intergas Kompakt HRE 28/24 boiler connected via Opentherm.
I have been reading the forum about Opentherm and how the temperature flow optimization works.
I am pretty sure I am still missing a lot of things regarding the functionality, so bear with me :)
I am a bit puzzled with the adjusted maximum flow temperature and I will explain what I mean.
When I set the maximum flow temperature to 70 degrees, Tado adjusts the maximum flow to 63 degrees.
When I set the maximum flow temperature to 65 degrees, Tado adjusts the maximum flow to 58 degrees.
When I set the maximum flow temperature to 55 degrees, Tado adjusts the maximum flow to 49 degrees.
Is that behavior normal?
From what I understand Tado adjusts the max flow temperature according to weather conditions.
What does it adjust the flow temperature everytime time I change the max temperature? I would it expect it to stay around the same values.
What am I missing here?
Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Any chance someone from support can shed some light into this behavior? :)0

Really interesting. I'm sure it must be described somewhere since it's official feature (and payed one). I couldn't find it though.0

Hello @Irek85
This is the official Help Center article.
There isn't much else publicly available, as far as I know.0 -
Hello @Emcee
Thank you for the response.
I was mostly interested in the experience of other users and that is why I posted here.
I will contact the support as well.0 -
Salve, caldaia Vaillant. Anche io ho notato questo disallineamento della temperatura massima. Impostato sulla caldaia a 70 sulla caldaia e 58 gradi max temperatura raggiunti. Avete ulteriori notizie0

I also have it connected with open therm to my boiler and my experience is that I saw what you describe only with the weather optimization enabled. If you disable the feature then the boiler should reach the max temperature but only if the request for heat requires it. For example, simplifying things a lot, of you need to increase the room temperature of 0.5 degrees then you don't need the boiler to heat the water at the max temperature but maybe just a fraction of it and this is the great benefit of using open therm which in the long term should save you money0

Non ho abilitato l'ottimizzazione della mandata automatica e con scarto di oltre 3 gradi tra temperatura ambiente e temperatura richiesta la massima temperatura di mandata é 58 gradi. Vorrei capire meglio come funziona0

Hi
I came to ask the exact same question. I have TADO x on an Ideal Logic+ via opentherm and mine does exactly what yours does. Which isn’t logical so I’ve disabled it.
Out of interest if you press the boost heating all rooms button does your temp get to the boilers max temp, mine doesn’t in this situation either, and I think it should.I previously had this wired via on/off relay and the boiler would just go to 70 as expected.
