Migrating from Climote to Tado X
I currently have:
- Climote Remote Heating Controller
- Underfloor heating downstairs (with 3 small zones controlled by wired Heatmiser stats)
- Ideal Logic System 30 boiler
- Separate hot water tank (Joule, not certain re model)
- Radiators upstairs (with 1 Heatmiser stat), and some very cold bedrooms
Aiming to:
- Remove Climote entirely and replace with Tado (X or V3)
- Replace Heatmiser stats with Tado stats
- Add Radiator valves in some bedrooms which are much colder and would benefit from direct temp control
I think I need:
- Wired Tado X Starter Pack ?
- Radiator valves (but not necessarily a stat for every single radiator)?
- Add-on Tado stats to replace old Heatmiser stats?
Appreciate info on self-install specific to setup like this. Thanks!

The crucial information is here. Slide 1. It states that the wiring arrangement is as follows:
Your boiler only runs in switched relay mode. If you have a large house or one with thick walls, or want to integrate IoT devices, use X. Otherwise V3 works very well.
- Live would go to Live on the Tado wireless receiver (TWR)
- Neutral to Neutral
- PIN 1 moves to CH COM on the TWR
- PIN 2 moves to HW COM on the TWR
- PIN 3 moves to CH NO on the TWR
- PIN 4 moves to HW NO on the TWR
All Heatmiser wired thermostats would have to be replaced by individual Tado wired thermostats
How many radiators do you have in total? How are they organised in zones? The fact that you have cold rooms suggests a few things:
- Need to rebalance the flow of heat so that all radiators heat up at the same pace. TRVs wont change this, but good rebalancing will save you money.
- Need to understand the relationship between the motorised zone valves (attached to each wired thermostat - and the radiators which are fed by each motorised valve.
No need to worry about the cylinder thermostat - that will be a simple swap as identified above.
