Tado Heating System Problem – Boiler Shuts Down and RCD Trips

Hi,

For the past week, I've been experiencing an issue where my boiler is behaving weirdly, causing the RCD breaker to trip. When this happens, I reset the RCD and try to turn on the heating for a single room via the Tado app. However, as soon as the boiler starts up, the RCD trips again. This has become quite frustrating.

My setup is fairly simple: I have one thermostat connected to a Grow-Worm boiler, with TRVs installed on all the radiators, except for those in the bathrooms.

I have tried resetting all the Tado equipment but no improvement.

I have also noticed that if I remove all the rooms from the Zone Controller, start the heating, and then add the rooms back to the Zone Controller, the heating works fine. However, this only lasts for a day before the cycle repeats.

I can’t seem to figure out what’s causing this issue.

Here is the RCD breaker

@UsmanRana Hello. Sorry to hear your heating is playing up and something is tripping the RCD on your fuseboard.

The most likely suspect for the RCD tripping would be a water leak. Often a faulty zone valve, especially when mounted vertically. Water weeping from the valve seal gets into the motor head and electrics. The RCD trips. Without an RCD, the main 3A fuse for the boiler, or the fuse in a wiring centre, will blow. Without finding and fixing the fault, this will continue to happen and risk causing more problems.
