Use wired add-on smart thermostat as Wireless Temperature Sensor

Hello,

I'm struggling to get hold of an add-on Wireless Temperature Sensor, and support at Tado has been anything but incapable of offering more than 2 sentences.

It's been out of stock since November 2024, and I can't buy it from other retailers either. I also interested in purchasing from the Tado official site because our energy supplier offers a significant discount on all V3 products. I'm concerned they will eventually discontinue all V3 products, and I'm getting no answers – I'd rather purchase now than later when all my existing Tado products are no longer sold.

So, I'm trying to get creative with my options:
1. Can I buy a Wired Add-on smart thermostat (which is in stock) and use it as a wireless temperature sensor? I know this is a strange question, but according to Gemini, I can.
2. Can I buy a starter kit and use the Wireless smart thermostat as an add-on temperature sensor?

Thanks!

I just searched for a WTS and immediately got 3 outlets with stock lowest at £59 (new)

@Xenia Several reputable outlets: John Lewis, Amazon, Screwfix. You could purchase a V3+ wireless starter kit and just use the Wireless temperature sensor as an add-on. As an alternative, an unmounted Tado TRV can act as the wireless temperature sensor for the Room.

Although X is the new range, it doesn't do everything that V3+ can do. No indication from my contacts that Tado intend to discontinue the V3+ range any time soon.
