Signal to boiler not being sent?
Hi,
I've had my tado installed downstairs for 3 months or so and no problems until the past two days.
When changing the heat up or down it doesnt seem to be sending it to the boiler to trigger the heating. When I turn the heating on upstairs (still old thermostat) it works fine. I've switched off and reset everything including the bridge, thermostat and boiler to restart everything and still no 'signal' to the boiler. There are no errors in the app everything is 'good' and connected and the boiler is running fine (heats upstairs and water)
Is there a way to see what is being sent from the thermostat to the boiler or a way to trigger this to trouble shoot it?
Pretty stuck with things to try here so any help appreciated!

Frrom your post, I'm assuming you have a system with two zone valves (downstairs and upstairs) plus a HW tank with its own valve?
When you call for heat, Tado is connected to the valve and commands the valve to open. When the valve is open, a switch inside it commands the boiler and pumpt to start. This is a protection mechanism to avoid the boiler and pump running against a failed closed valve.
I would recommend checking the following
- WIth the power turned off, check wire connections for downstairs zone are all good and tight
- While close to the downstairs zone valve, turn on Tado heating for that zone and listen for anything happening with the valve. You should hear it open. This can take a few seconds to a minute after adjusting the temp in Tado
- If nothing is heard on step 2, check if there's a manual override switch on the downstairs zone valve. Try moving that to the open position (should be marked on the casing) to see if that will trigger the downstairs heat
Given that this was all working before, my guess is the zone valve has failed or you have a loose wire
Let us know how you get on
