Wiring help needed

I have an s plan system with old Danfoss FP715Si controller and Danfoss RMT230 room thermostat. I want to move the controller near the hotwater tank and have a wireless thermostat so bought the tado v3 home kit. The wiring centre is WC4B and the wiring would seem to follow this with one exception. The diagram I have shows the thermostat connected across terminals 2 and 3, however I only have one wire going to terminal 2. I have temp connected the tado all seems fine but doesn't fire up the pump or boiler. I bridged 2&3 but still no joy. I put a live to terminal 11, still no joy. Put the set up back to original and all works. I'm guessing thermostat wiring is the issue but think the hot water should have worked?

hello @mcgrath57 Hello. Have you reached out to Tado support at the start of the install?

For users to help, please provide full details of your heating, boiler, thermostats, controls etc etc. Photos with wiring will help.

  • No. I thought it would be an easy install. I looked at several youtube installs, tracked down a wiring diagram. Verified my system was the same except for that one wire missing from the thermostat. As I wanted to move the programmer anyway as new kitchen being fitted where it is mounted I thought it would be easy to disconnect the existing and fit new. Clearly I am wrong. Is there anyone I can contact at Tado?

The wiring centre diagram should help, provided they followed it. I presume it has CH demand on 9 and DHW on 10 (calls from programmer). Without live to there things won’t really progress. You’d be bridging a dead wire to the next part of the chain.

  • Yep, you are correct with the terminals. I will check existing terminals and voltage at them tomorrow and then try again. Just puzzled why no connection from stat to terminal 3? It's a rats nest with no space behind existing programmer to try and trace. That's anyway for your comments.

I’d probably just trace and label the cables at the wiring centre. Once you make sense of that it’s easier to sort out. You don’t need to keep the programmer or thermostat. Pumps commonly get power from the boiler, in case that’s the case for yours.
