Today my tado Internet bridge would not connect to the 'cloud' - the third light blinks

The system has been connected and working for two years and today 18 March 2025, the Internet bridge can't connect to the cloud*.

  1. Is anyone else affected / did something automatically update on TADO yesterday?
  2. I can't problem solve this today so can I get local control if I set up Homekit or HomeAssistant?

*The Internet bridge has an IP address at the router. I've moved the bridge to other switches and so on, however I'm pointing the finger at the bridge because I know of nothing else that has changed.

If it has an IP address then it's unlikely to be a hardware failure causing the issue. I'd raise the issue with Tado support to check on their side.

    • Has there been an update to the router that might have caused this?
    • Can you try another network cable just to be sure

I have found that sometimes the cloud light takes several minutes to go solid after a restart but it always works in the end.

  • Thank you - fine suggestions that I've now checked. And I'd agree that after any reasonable wait tado does work in the end. Today feels different: when I restarted the router or the tado Internet Bridge could be found waiting for the router*and thus something in the network or router will not play with it.

(*ie the middle of the three LEDs).

While I try to get through to really understand this, my temporary fix is to connect the tado Internet Bridge to an ethernet socket on my computer. I then turn on Internet Connection Sharing so that the wifi Internet also goes via the ethernet socket. The Internet Bridge now shows 'connected to the cloud'; the tado devices gradually went online and shows as controllable.

So yes the Internet Bridge hasn't failed.
