Zone Controller Controlling All Rooms Instead of Just One

I've just installed my Tado X system; there are 12 radiators with Tado Smart Radiator Thermostat Xs and and one Tremperature Sensor X, which I have set to be the Zone Controller for the lounge with its two radiators. All other rooms have had their Zone Controller set to None.

I carefully set all Radiators to different temperatures, but when I pressed Resume Schedule they all changed to the lounge temperature.

Have I missed something?

  • Ah, I think it may be that all schedules were still set to the default 20°. I'll change them now.

  • OK. All rooms now have desired temperatures set in the schedules and they all started heating when the schedule started, but once the lounge hit its target the other rooms all stopped heating even though they hadn't reached their targets.

So I increased the lounge temperature (the new figure was shown on the Temperature Sensor X) and the radiators in the rooms that should not be controlled by it (Zone: None) all started heating again.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or not understanding?

  • Is there anyway to set the Wireless Temperature Sensor X to a high temperature and leave all the radiator stats to control the heating and call for heat from the boiler when required? Or add a wired Temperature Sensor X to handle it?

  • Because you have all the other radiators set to no zone control, they can only get heat when the lounge radiator calls for heat. You can either make them all connected to the zone controller so any can call for heat, or otherwise just make say one bedroom (the coldest/north facing) able to call, so if that is on, the other bedrooms can get heat if they need it. The only way to be sure all rooms fulfil their demands is for all to be able to switch heating on but that does tend to make boiler cycle unless it's on ebus/opentherm.

  • @mindstorm Ah I see; I need to connect all the radiators to the zone controller for them to work independently. That makes sense now. All rooms modified accordingly.

    Thanks.
