Replacing a Myson MPRT Wired Thermostat With a Tado V3 Wireless System

I am looking to replace my wired Myson MPRT Thermostat (photo below) with a Tado Wireless Smart Thermostat V3. My current thermostat has just 2 wires (photo below) Can I replace my old wired thermostat with the Tado Wireless Receiver without requiring an additional power supply? Thanks! 😀

    Short answer is no.

You need 230V to power the wireless receiver, even if your switch wire is 230V you will need a neutral conductor.

You could use the wired thermostat

  • Not likely in that setting. Need some clarity.

    1. Are you using a wireless receiver (aka Tado extension kit) in the property, connected to the boiler?
    2. Or is there another wired Tado stat controlling the boiler and the CH call for heat?
    3. What boiler is it, specifically?
    4. If used in purely wired mode this link: MPRTinstallOct13.indd refers to a connection being made between Pins 2 and 3. It does not explicitly demand that PIN 2 is given the role as Common, and Pin 3 as switched live. This means that you need to check the two wires with an electrical screwdriver (or better still, a multimeter) to check the voltage on each wire before changing anything.

Asking about the specific brand/model because there can be efficiency benefits which are not accessed when a boiler is commissioned in dumb mode. Some boilers have digital modes which enable improved efficiency.
