Pre-heat and early start for Tado X

I would like to know if early start can be available again for Tado x?
Is there no way to store programming profiles?
So that the user can quickly choose from his stored profiles instead of having to change everything manually and having to manually write down the profiles?
If I am on vacation and want a different profile do I have to change the entire programming?
I had multiple profiles such as Vacation, Home, Summer, Spring so that I could switch between profiles without having to start over.
Could this feature be implemented?6 -
I have the same question.
Bought the tado x system and am now very dissatisfied and disappointed that there is not pre heat and no early start feature.4 -
@Emcee Also interested to know whether these features are on a roadmap for implementation or not?
Companies often have a comprehensive breakdown of the differences between models. Does Tado have one to save us all trawling through multiple threads and potentially repeatedly asking the same questions? It might make support easier 🙃 I'm trying to understand which features I currently use I'd be losing if I upgrade from v3+ to Tado X, and which features I'd gain.

Hello @Ditsy
Unfortunately I don't have a clear answer regarding when Pre-heat and early start for Tado X will be available. My only recommendation is not to confuse the tado° V generations Help Center anf the tado° X Help Center. These contain different information and can best inform tado° X vs. V generation users.-1 -
I agree with OP.
Currently I see very little smart control for the tado X. It's basically just a bunch of remote controlled TRVs.
Many friends ask me if I'm satisfied with it and my honest answer is no. Until this feature + more granular control on geofencing and home & away + more flexible scheduling arrives, I find the offer not compelling at all and will advice as such.

I'm also disappointed that a very good feature from the V series is not implemented in the new X series. I mean, a new product should maintain the old functionalities and add new ones, not removing old ones..1
-
I was thinking of purchasing the new X series especially with the 35% discount, however with functionality missing and what sounds like a flakey implementation I think I’ll hold fire until after autumn/winter months passed. I just hope Tado consider offering the same discounts ie 35% next spring after initial implementation and functionality has been improved to match existing Tado systems, as I don’t want to take multiple steps backwards installing a new system. Come on Tado you know it makes sense to offer another discount period along with potential trade in offer for those with plenty of existing V2/3 devices - recycling in todays world!0
-
I purchased the X series since it's my first ever smart thermostat. Anyway, it's really bad that there's no early start feature, and the entire ecosystem seems more like a beta than a final product. Let's say it could become a great product, if well supported and developed. I really hope so0
-
We need to know if this function is on the road map or if it is already ditched

@Emcee please bring all features of V3+ including the ability to edit the length of time you can boost hot water for. Thanks!1
-
Another vote for early start and also hot water temperature control over Opentherm. Tado should have been open about these features missing in X.
2 -
Tis a touch embarrassing… the QueChoisir magazine gave Tado X & Tado V3+ top 2 billings when reviewing smart heating systems. I will comment on the lack of controls that were available within the V3+ system to the consumer magazine.

OMG, I just installed my new Tado X and now find this topic, because I was also searching for the early start and hot water control. I'm now gonna remove it and going back to my old thermostat. I thought this was an upgrade from the Tado V3+ with at least the same features. Early start was one of the things I wanted why I bought this Tado X.
Very disappointed!!!

Please add this feature

Also disappointed this is missing from X. I don't feel it was clearly advertised and the pre-heat function is mentioned in the Auto-Asssist upgrade message even though it doesn't exist for my system.2

@BecomingSmart,
I thought to myself perhaps they are gathering winter data to evaluate the effectiveness of the transfer to Tado X from V3+ eco-system.

Hello,
coming from a 10 years old home heating setup with Honeywell EvoHome, I'm now quite surprised the latest and smartest Tado X does not support this feature I was used since the very beginning with Honeywell.I moved to Tado X because I thought it would have been much better.
So far I found it better only in the setup.1 -
I am disappointed with the new features of Tado X because there is no early start in the schedule and also there is no option to choose the type of days: working days and weekends but only single days are available. When will these features be introduced?
1 -
I'm quite surprised that Tado X is not adaptive - my Honeywell Chronotherm III of 20 years ago was clever enough to adapt start times so that a setting of 20 degrees at 0700 meant the heating system would start so that the temperature would be at (or near) 20 degrees at 0700, rather than the Tado 'switch on at 0700 and start heating'
1 -
Here another dissatisfied user, Early Start and preheat need to come back ASAP. Further the scheduling needs to be better, the week, workdays/ weekend setup must come back!!
As anther user wrote, I will certainly not advise people to switch to X1 -
I never had a Tado (or any other smart thermostat) before. I had a very basic HoneyWell, extremely basic manual setup. One of the 2 main reasons I wanted to try a smart system, was to automate - I would expect the system to turn heating on/off, depending on a few easily accessible inputs.
Since I switched to Tado, things became even further manual for me. Tado now heating up my house, way more slower than before - probably trying to do some energy saving and i cannot modify that i don't know why. But it's a problem, because i come home with kids, and the house is cold, and it takes 2.5 hours to heat up, even though i keep "boosting".
In my schedule, it says, at 17:30, it should be 21. Tado does this at 17:30, i was doing the exact same thing myself with my HoneyWell when i arrive at home at 17:30. Where is the "smart" ?
Tado knows- the temperature outside
- current temperature inside
- history of how fast/slow my house heats up or cools down depending on temperature, humidity etc.
To fix this problem, i change the calendar and say "21 degrees at 16:30" , now, if it's a sunny day, now all of a sudden, the house too hot way earlier than it's supposed to be, i am now wasting energy - not saving anymore at all. Which was Tado's primary goal, right?
With my honeywell, i would turn off when i leave home, i would turn on when i arrive, that's it. I would be maybe sitting in the cold for 30 minutes at worst, that's it.
Now every day, several times a day, i keep checking the weather, how sunny it is or cold it is, and i keep modifying the "smart" calendar or i keep overriding it.
Now running into this page, I can't believe that this existed before, and Tado decided to ditch this feature with the new series. I even see now that alternative products from 20 years ago even had this.
This is definitely a deal breaker, my advice to my friends to switch to Tado, is a big NO.
This page here is one of the top viewed and upvoted requests, I really hope Tado addresses this very soon, looks like it deserve a higher prioritisation.2 -
I've spent the last month assuming my Tado X was broken because of the lack of early start. As the house hasn't been updated to temperature when we wake up.
With the recent colder snap in the UK I've finally been looking to see what was wrong. To find that Tado haven't even implemented it. We're now stuck having to check the weather to manually change the schedule to make sure the house is warm when we wake up.
What's worse is because there are no profiles I have to go and manually change it rather than a quick switch.
I'm extremely disappointed in Tado X. We've basically been sold a poorly thought out beta test. Rather than a working product currently.
I would urge anyone who is on the fence about upgrading to give Tado X a wide berth until they can be bothered to update things so it's an actual functional product. The first posts in this thread are from 3 months ago. And not a single thing has been updated.
Extremely disappointed. I will be looking for a refund.4 -
@Emcee last comment from you on this topic is in November. Which says "…sooner or later, most of the functionalities found on V3+ will be found on X and vice versa"
1. Is early start and preheat one of those features?
2. This is a topic open for 3 months, your comment was from 2 months ago. And as you see, all comments on this topic, indicate that this is a blocker for everyone and an enough reason to stop using Tado X. Under those circumstances, can you comment, if in the last 2 months this topic has been put in the roadmap and what's the ETA? We are in the middle of winter, I want to know how long i might have to wait before switching to something else.
3. Even if this feature comes to Tado X, does it mean the tado X i have will have it? Is it available via software update? Or the Tado X i have at home will never have this feature?3 -
Can we please have some response on this, the feature downgrade element of tado X is so disappointing. I was an early adopter of the original Tado and this is my second so called upgrade, that that turned into a downgrade !
Advanced Geo-Location for individual Program time blocks - AutoAssist is virtually useless as I can no longer set certain programmable time windows to have geo-location on or off - When will this feature be reimplemented ?
Early Start no longer implemented, the recent cold spell has highlighted how important this feature is, no I have to go in and change my programmes to start the heating early. When will this feature be reimplemented ?
Is there a general feature roadmap for Tado X - I realise this will be subject to change but it would at least give some confidence that items are in development.

I decided to write Tado at contact@tado.com. I can only advise all that have this problem t send them a personal complaint. That will make them clear how many have a problem with this. You can read my message and the reply from Tado. As you can read in their reply, there is no schedule when things will be implemented.
Hello,
To come to the point, I am greatly disappointed in Tado. I upgraded to
X from V3 and all I can conclude is that it is a downgrade. How could
I expect that the options in the app are not nearly the same as with
the V3 version. One is ofcourse expecting it to be the same if not
better. You are luring people into buying X with discounts and once done, then
they notice the difference, a very sad way of doing business. The schedules, just per day, no weekdays, weekends, or 7 day
schedules, further the Early Start, a basic requirement. Especially
the latter is annoying, instead of being an automated system it is
manual now. The ever changing weather makes it necessary to do
constant adaptations. The app while using X should be ASAP changed to all that V3 had. The
community is full of complaints about the app combined with X. I see
that I and many others will not advise Tado X to ANYONE!Tell me when this is fixed, the first complaints are from october and
probably earlier, so far nothing is happening.Greatings from a very dissatisfied user, wishing he would have stayed with V3!
TonDear Ton,
Thank you for contacting us.
I’m sorry to hear that you’re unsatisfied with our product/service. We aim for tado° to make your life easier, not harder. So, I understand you’re frustrated by this issue.
Sadly I can not tell you when exactly the feature will be added to line X as well. Our development team is doing their best to keep improving and updating X.
While tado° X and V3+ use different technology platforms, both improve home climate control. However, transitioning some features to the new technology platform presented significant challenges.
tado° X includes several new, highly-requested features:
- Set temperatures above 30°: users can now enjoy higher temperature settings for increased comfort.
- Matter support: this ensures compatibility with a wide range of smart home devices.
- Mesh networking: improved connectivity allows for better communication between devices, ensuring a more reliable system.
- Offline Schedule: devices will follow the user's climate settings even without an internet connection.
- Multiple Zone Controllers per room: this enables more precise temperature management in larger spaces.
These features show our commitment to meeting user needs and improving overall satisfaction.
Feel free to reach out to us if you have any further questions.Kind regards,
Chantal
