Tado° X upgrade discount - will this be available in the UK?
I got the promotional email offering a 50% discount for existing customers to upgrade to Tadoº X. However because I'm based in the UK as much as I would like to I can't take advantage of it.
Does anyone know if a similar discount will be available once Tadoº X is launched in the UK?

Hello @Martin_G
I just spoke to the person in charge of these discounts to confirm.
Once X is launched in the UK / Ireland, discounts will be sent to customers in those locations using the same qualificatives as EU emails. If you already received these discounts, then you will most likely receive another email.2 -
Thank you for letting me know, I will wait for the announcement.

I am in the UK and i have received an email to switch over form V3+ to X with only 35% discount.
I have a large system with 15 smart TRVs. 3 wired thermostat and a boiler/hot water controler unit...
Cost of switching is £900 !!!
Nope....
I will keep my struggling (connection and coverage with only 1 bridge) V3+ for now...
For me, the benefit of switching doesn't outweigh fhe switching cost...2 -
Similar situation. My V3 has always struggled getting a signal to the furthest radiators, and I'm on the verge of dumping it all.
Does anyone know whether, during an internet outage, the app has any local network capability?
It would be good if there was a trade-in option. It would be electronic waste if tado could refurbish and resell.

35% off, and I have to replace my entire system?
Why would I replace my system with Tado when you have proved you do not care about existing customers? Other products are available… Perhaps I will add to the Hive system i already have in the parts of the house that Tado does not reach1 -
I understand this is disappointing….
Please take into account that the Wireless Starter Kit is 120 pounds in the UK and 120 euros in Europe (after the discount). On top of that, the UK kit is a 2 in 1 as it replaces the Programmer. The launch offer you received was therefore considered fair by my colleagues.
Although tado° X does not have all of the same features as V3+ and other V generations, weekly schedule is indeed possible.
Other benefits you might take into consideration include:
- Mesh connectivity
- The ability to use multiple wireless thermostats, which also work as repeaters
- The ability to simultaneously influence zone thermostat and boiler, as explained here
If you'd like to know more about what X has to offer, please explore our tado° X Help Center.

I've got a large v3+ system with 13 TRVs - would be open to upgrading to X as have persistent connection issues due to stone walls. Have received the 35% code - what drives some users receiving the 50% off code as for the latter I'd make the switch?0

I priced up the cost of moving my install to X. It’s £1,600.
That’s not viable and the old kit will end up in landfill.
It might have been more palatable if the two systems could have coexisted in the app vs having to do a HUGE shift and lift.
Early adoption and loyalty clearly mean nothing, I’ll be looking at an alternative.0 -
So despite being a customer since 2019, and currently using V3+ kit, I haven't received an email. Rather than simply stating what the criteria are to qualify for a discount I've had to raise a ticket to ask whether I qualify, and I've been put on a mysterious list to be contacted. I'm now waiting for an email that may never materialise…
There are too many omissions from Tado X for it to make sense to upgrade at full cost, and we all know how support dwindles on older products.

My comment was really aimed at tech with software in general, but when we purchased Tado you had a UK phone line we could use in emergencies and it was possible to get same day support. Support has been much more problematic since then, and I very much regret installing Tado in the home of my 86 year old Father, as it has been temperamental to say the least and it has been impossible to get swift support. On one occasion his heating had been working fine for a month or so, and he was released from a hospital stay after an operation and we were unable to get his heating working AT ALL.
I'd hoped to trial Tado X in our home for a while and then decide whether the products had matured and it would be an improvement for him. Perhaps it's time to throw in the towel and go back to non-smart products that can at least keep the heating on reliably when required.

I have a large system (26 radiators in 16 rooms)(each room has its own Smart thermostat and Smart Rad Thermostats) running on two accounts due to the limitations of the old devices been using this system away since it basically first came on the market and had been continually told that modifications/updates were on the way to resolve my issues and kept adding more and more equipment as we refurbed the house now they have gone back on their word and brought out a completely different system that is not compatible with the existing system, really, I have spent in excess of £3000 and support say they understand my frustration EYE RIGHT they say we will continue to support the old systems give that a couple of years ha. Been reading some of the posts one was offered 50% discount I think when in Europe we only get a measly 35% how can these companies get away with this also been looking through some of the issues with the new system not much changed there is there and apparently some of the old functions have been removed?

Emcee I agree you have supported v and v3+ but they are compatible with each other the Tado x is not give it a couple of years until you have sold enough of the Tado x then you will begin to stop supporting

I agree with JdeR about loyalty. This says it all about Tado's view of customers. It doesn't matter that X uses different architecture to V, it wouldn't have been hard to make X interact with V even if it required an additional piece of kit to bridge between them.
I can only assume that Tado are very confident in how they compare with the competition, because if I've got to replace everything I'm naturally going to check all the alternatives and Tado start at the back of the pack given previous connectivity issues and now this monumental snub.0 -
I agree with P_W ": "I can only assume that Tado are very confident in how they compare with the competition". From what I have personally experienced with the other devices the competition is very weak, until a serious player comes in to the market to compete we're left with Tado unfortunately.
