Installed Tado X and have an issue
Although I have raised a chat with support I thought I would post here as well as I have no idea how long it will be before I get a reply. I didn't raise it as an emergency as the heating is working, somewhat.
The issue is that of five rooms only two are currently able to fire the boiler. Four rooms have radiator stats and wireless temperature sensors. The remaining room has only a radiator thermostat. That room can fire the boiler on demand.
Of the other four rooms, only one can fire the boiler. The devices in this room were the first to be added, after configuring the wireless receiver. The system uses Opentherm on a Baxi 830 Combo boiler, only a few weeks old.
There is another issue with the wireless receiver but I don't think it is connected with the above.
When first set up the wifi was showing all three leds steady, indicating a strong signal. To me expected as the router is about 2 meters away. Later I noticed that it had changed to left led solid, middle off and right flashing. Despite this there appears to be no connectivity problems as I can control the heating over 5G.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Main problem solved. There was no zone controller selected for the rooms that were not working. It must have been selected automatically for the first room set up. The other room working was the last to be set up, the one that only has the TRV. That must have been auto selected as well. Not quite sure why.
Anyway, hope this helps anyone with similar issues.

I can confirm that the data is lost on deletion of the Home in the Tado app, so my fault for not waiting for a reply. The good news is you can get a download of your data, just do it first.

Just to put it out there, I have the same issue with the WiFi connection, it started with 3 solid lights and now left hand side solid but far right flashing and no problem with connection. My modem is less than a meter away and I have the Nest WiFi Pro. Any advice? When ever I reset the receiver it will go to 3 bars but after about 2 hours back to the flashing right led.0
-
Yes, exactly that. I have since tried a reset and got the same result as you. I raised a ticket with support and first got told that the receiver is too close to the router and they would be unlikely to be able to help. So I moved it away. I was then asked to upload a video showing the issue???? This I dutifully did. I then got a message explaining what this sequence of lights meant. I was no longer connected to the Internet, despite explaining in the orginal post that I knew what this meant and that there was no problem with the connection. So I explained again and await a reply.
If you have any more luck, please let us know. It's beginning to look like we may have faulty units. This needs fixed as it will be unable to indicate if there is an actual fault.

I've also logged a ticket too, but they haven't got back. The flashing light isn't causing any issues with connections but interesting that the manual say it is lost internet connection when it hasn't as I've tested the system remotely with it flashing.
I'm hoping that this is just a quick firmware update fix. The wife will kill me if I have to replace it. I've come from the V3+ system and that used to have numerous drop outs.0 -
Had a reply. Check Internet is working (it is) and restart the receiver. Already done that twice. You had any luck?

Still waiting for support, and I done everything you did as it will go to strong signal and check an hour or so later and it's back to the flashing light. I'm surprised Tado hasn't mentioned anything about this yet as it's affecting a few of us.0

Another reply. Apparently my last email reply was empty so I had to repeat that.

I have also experienced the WiFi LED issue as well on the Wireless Receiver X. The 3 WiFi LEDs are solid white and after a while the left remains solid, second is off and third is flashing.
I looked at the documentation and noticed this meant WiFi connected but no internet connection.
As you have mentioned on this thread, rebooting the wireless receiver resolves the issue and the three LEDs are back to solid but again after a while will go back to the right one flashing.
I tested the connectivity and turned off anything that might also be acting as a thread border router (Apple TV), turned off WiFi on my phone and was still able to boost the heating. This also worked away from home.
I believe the LED flashing to be a bug but support have sent me similar responses that have already been mentioned here.
Every time I noticed the LED flashing I rebooted the wireless receiver, even though this didn’t appear to be necessary as it still worked as expected. However I haven’t needed to reboot today so far, perhaps an update has been pushed to resolve this?
I’m not 100% but I thought the Wireless Receiver X was on version 240.1 but is now 240.2, I may be imagining that though.0 -
Looks like they have been updated with firmware. I'll reboot the reciever and see if this has solved the bug! Fingers crossed!0
-
So I've checked this morning and the receiver reverted back to the flashing led. I think TADO needs to acknowledge there is a problem with this receiver and if they are fixing them?0
-
It might be coincidence that mine hasn’t been flashing/required a reboot for about 24 hours, I’ll continue to monitor it.1
-
So support got back to me say that he thinks the programmer is updating? Kinda odd as it can't be updating for so long and they didn't say what it was uploading, schedule, firmware?0
-
Support for back to me and advised they have had server issues for a few days which have been resolved. This coincides with what I’m seeing as the issue hasn’t reappeared for me yet.
My wireless receiver x is on version 240.2 if that’s any relevance.0 -
That's the firmware what I'm on too0
-
Thanks all the info here. I've just have a reply advising that I should change the DNS settings on my router to use Google's. I love how it is assumed I even know what they are talking about. Anyway I did this and also reset the receiver. Three lights back for now. Will keep monitoring and report back. Firmware is 240.2.

Those were changed to Google a long time ago and haven't changed anything for me0
-
Nor me, except appearing to cause an error light to come an and requiring a reboot to clear.
Back to the usual flashing light after a couple of hours.

Support wants me to send a video, even after me telling them the lights in detail and what the problem os...I don't get it! I even told them a few users are experiencing this issue. No reply on that!0
-
Same here, I sent it. Pointless. This clearly needs to be escalated to a higher level.

So overnight magically the receiver went back to all 3 solid lights but all devices are now showing as offline on the app - I can't win!! I didn't expect these problems on the X system and this was the only reason I bought it to stop the offline issues that I had on the V3+. So far I'm not getting the wow factor and I've spent nearly £600 on the new system!0
-
And so has mine! My devices are all showing online though. I did have a smart thermostat I installed this morning showing offline soon after installing but it seemed to be working ok regardless. It showed connected soon after. Consider yourself fortunate you are not trying to get X working with Apple Home. No humidity data and on/off control for heating, can't actually adjust the temperature.

Saying that, I can't even add it to Alexa but the V3+ worked fine.
Support actually got back to me and told me exactly what I already told them about the receiver connected to WiFi but not the internet and told me to reboot both the modem and receiver. They need to sort their support staff and also look into the problem across the board with these receivers.0 -
I agree. Some positive news, I discovered that Siri voice control works. Wasn't expecting that.

Oh well, it didn't last. Back to the error condition display this morning.

Oh no, what's strange is I now have 3 steady lights for the last 36hours, but I know the X system had an outage last night. Support have escalated it, so if they share new news I will let all know on here.0

Just to add to this debate. I have RMA’d a Tado X Wireless Receiver for not setting the heating off (after a long discussion with Tado Chat) … I did a straight swap of wires from Tado V3+ then had to revert to Nest Gen 2 Thermostat (Getting that 12 yr old thermostat up and running was a trial in itself, but worked fine until I fitted replacement Tado X receiver today) whilst waiting for replacement (first one they sent was a V3+ despite emailing the invoice as requested 🙄). Just received my replacement, they said the mixup was because they haven’t had to replace anybody’s Tado X Wireless Receiver yet and did not have the receiver in their replacement logistics yet (so I got the 2 pack). Interesting that there seems to be an issue here.

Was the outage around 17:20 for about 5 minutes or so? That's all I see on my graphs.

Yeah, about that yesterday.0
-
So help desk have relied the following:
"It seems that we had a server issue yesterday which caused a disconnection. That should be sorted now.
However, I did report this issue in terms of the LEDs statuses to our engineers. They are currently investigating this matter.
Therefore I would like to thank you for flagging this matter."
So it looks like Tado are aware, so hopefully we will get this solved soon!0
