Tado Thermostat X has no Device Linking option within the app
Hello,
I have successfully paired my Tado X Thermostat and Bridge X to my home network. I can control the thermostat via the Tado app without any issues. However, I'm now trying to pair my Tado X to my Home Assistant instance. In order to do that, I require a setup code. It is my understanding that I should be able to get this code via the Device Linking option within the Tado app. However, If I navigate to Rooms & Devices and select my Thermostat, there is no such option available. Not sure how to get the setup code via any other way.

Hello everyone,
Your German community counterparts have a similar conversation going on. You can access it here.
In essence, an app firmware update (8.8.1.) released last week seems to have resolved the issue. Did it for you as well?1 -
It worked for me after trying a few things.
The following is the solution that worked for me.
1. Add Tado X devices including Tado Brodge X to Tado app
2. On the same apple device, go to Apple Home app and “Add Accessory”
3. On Accessory screen don’t scan or enter any code. Click on “More Options..”
4. Apple Home will show alll the matter devices including Tado X devices.
5. Add one by one all of your Tado X devices following above steps.
Hope this will be helpful.0

Hi I now did first remove the device from my home, then I did a factory reset of that thermostat and added the device again to the home in the tado app. Device linking is now there.
Factory reset tutorial: https://help.tado.com/en/articles/8943122-how-do-i-do-a-factory-reset-on-my-tado-x-devices0 -
I had the 'Device linking' option but it didn't work. Support suggested I do a factory reset, and after, the 'device linking' option is no longer there...
Overall I'm quite disappointed with tado, it seems like their software is a mess, at least compared to the Chinese brand one that it replaced, which somehow worked flawlessly and even worked in Google Home via the Tuya app, it's only fault being that it didn't know opentherm.0 -
Same here, for 6 out of 9 devices! the others have the device linking menu inside the app.
by the way, factory reset didn't work out as well!

No, the new version as of 25 Oct still has no Device Linking option....
I am dissapointed with Tado and may return all 7 thermostats I ordered...1 -
Just received my prime day starter kit and have the same issue on android, latest version of the app. Weirdly enough the two Thermostats have the device link option on an iPad with me being logged in, though it doesn't work and throws an error and on an iPhone the option is still missing.0

Same issue here! Latest version of the app (even the beta one) on Android, but I can't find any option about the "device linking" feature for Alexa, on the Tado app. Quite disappointed.
My Tado X FW is: 217.1
My Tado X bridge FW is: 239.1
Don't even know if this is the latest one. It would be helpful to get an info about this also0 -
I find that most times I am unable to make Device Linking work. I have 12 valves and have linked 3 of them (eventually) to Home Assistant. I did find an issue where the Device Linking option did not show on a valve. I factory reset the valve (remove battery, insert battery and press the Tado logo immediately then follow the instructions. I also found that my Wireless Receiver did not have a strong connection to my Wi-Fi so I corrected that. Then all vales have the Device Linking option, but don't link! My valves have firmware 243.1 and my android app version is 8.26.0.
Anyone else having linking issues?

Same issue in my case. Out of 10 Radiator Thermostats, 2 don't give the option of linking my tado device to Home Assistant through Matter ( FW 243.1). Wired thermostat FW 242.1, and Wireless Temperature sensor FW 243.1 give the linking option but linking procedure fails. Another Wireless Temperature Sensor (243.1) has successfully being added to my Home Assistant.

The instructions say "
Adding tado° X devices to Google Home
You can add your tado° X devices to your Google Home either from the tado° app or the Google Home app. You will need to add them individually. First, make sure that:
- the device that you want to add is powered
- your phone is running on iOS 16.4, Android 9, or later
In the tado° app:
- Open the tado° app.
- Select Settings > Rooms and devices and select the device that you want to add.
- Scroll down and select Device linking.
- On Android, select the Google Home icon and follow the pop-up instructions to link your device.
I find it fails at step 4, most of the time no list pops up!
Is this an app fault or does it require a firmware update to the smart valves?

I've had mixed results with this. I have a batch of radiator thermostats which worked fine, no device linking issues.
The other box of thermostats have all failed to show the 'device linking' option. I've even followed the instructions to conduct a factory reset but this doesn't appear to make a difference.
The firmware version is identical on the working & non-working versions.

Same here (on Android). Everything messed up a few days ago when all internet connection was lost in the Tado devices (a well documented thing elsewhere in this forum) Since then I have tried to reset and reconnect everything several times and I still get one thermostat that won't show the device linking option. Something clearly is wrong in the firmware or MQTT code that these are using.0
