TRVs micro adjusting a lot - how to stop?

Hello @AMannion
Our customers report different types of noises, most of which have different causes and fixes.
The most common is vibration. Is this what you are hearing? If so:
Vibration from a valve is most likely caused by an uneven distribution of pressure within a heating system. This vibration could be the cause of a boiler error. As there are several possible causes for this vibration, please try the following possible quick fixes:
- Lower the pressure levels for the radiators.
- Bleed all radiators of air.
- If you have access to your boiler, turn down the pump speed in the heating system.

With regards to the 'micro adjusting', I am not quite sure what you are referring to. Perhaps PID?
To quote another community member: PID controlled thermostat. This means that tado° not only looks at the current temperature but also at the overall temperature trend. In other words, it will turn the heating on until the room temperature increases just above the set-point. Then the heating will remain off until the temperature starts to drop. In doing this, tado° can prevent your heating from switching on and off too frequently and thereby protect the boiler from excessive wear and tear. It is also much more efficient in terms of energy usage. It can also happen that, when tado° notices the temperature is dropping very quickly, it will start to heat in order to prevent the temperature from dropping too far below the set-point, even though the current temperature is above the set-point.0

Thanks for getting back, your getting back has improved my view on Tado customer support.
To clarify there are no vibrations.
What I mean by micro-adjusting is that the TRV makes a lot of "whirring" noises every few seconds, similar to the noise it makes when it first opens (but it continues making that noise after the TRV first opens). It does this in the heating up phase for maybe the first 5 minutes. It's not just one TRV, it's all 4 that I purchased in the set that does it across different rads. I had the Tado wireless channel changed, but no change to the TRV noise. I am open to trying any sensible possible solutions.

If all your radiators are equipped with tado°, the problem might be solved by removing the Smart Radiator Thermostat from the radiator located closest to the boiler. If the noise stops, leave this radiator without a valve permanently.

I have two radiators beside the boiler without any TRV so that would not solve it unfortunately.

@Emcee apologies for hijacking the thread, but why would removing the smart thermostat from the radiator closest to the boiler have an effect in this situation?0

Hello @14spc
It seems this is not what is occuring to Amannion, but for other users, it can happen that the water being pumped by the boiler is creating too much pressure (especially when the valves are only slightly open by tado° Smart Radiator Thermostats / the boiler is set to relay). The alleviate the pressure and vibration resulting from this, we sometimes recommend to remove the tado° Smart Radiator Thermostat closest to the boiler. Customers can also to leave the valve fully open on the radiator closest to the boiler.1 -
While I have heard some people have had a good experience with Tado, in my case I think Tado is just unpredictable and generally garbage. But Tado aren't alone on this from my own experience there is no serious player in the wireless home heating market. As long as Tado keep selling units in whatever way it can, that's good enough to keep the Tado show on the road for now. Hopefully a serious player will come in to the market soon.
