Is hot water schedule maintained even when smart thermostat battery is discharged?

Hi all,

Our hot water schedule was linked to the smart thermostat. I have misplaced the smart thermostat and cannot find it and its battery has discharged. Hot water is now "offline" in Tado app and I dont see it come on on the wireless receiver at scheduled time. I still get hot water in shower/taps but its just warm even at the hottest setting. Has anyone been through this? Is this something that can get solved by buying a new smart thermostat and linking it to hot water? Thanks in advance!

Definitely lose HW control when the smart thermostat batteries die (even though extension kit is there and online). Just had this a few weeks back.

Got no battery warnings. Smart thermostat was just dead and HW hadn't run that morning. Swapped the batteries and service restored

  • Have never understood the logic of having a thermal wall sensor or thermostat being relevant to controlling water. Yet my home also has a wireless receiver and it claims that the wall stat plays a role - which makes no sense.

Do you have another wall thermostat or wall sensor in the home?

@wateroakley need to learn about this one, and the workarounds.

You can control the hot water from the wireless room sensor. However, you should be able to control the hot water from the app. Our room stat is screwed to the wall, hard to lose it, so could be mistaken with what happens with flat batteries.

  • Thanks for the answers. @davidlyall Sadly I can't find the smart thermostat. Do you know if buying a new one and linking it to hot water would solve the issue or would it require a complete reset?
