Tado wired thermostat eats up the batteries very quickly because its not connected to bridge

I have v3, and the thermostat is not able to connect to the brdige. Thats fine by me, I lost hope getting it in range, and there are no repeaters.

the problem is, apparently it keeps trying to reconnect to the brdige that it consumes the batteries very quickly. I have to change the Varta batteries every month

  • I would say that's entirely normal.

Tado design is based on the devices being online all the time so it will continue to try to connect which will use up the batteries more quickly.

Is there no option to move the bridge higher and more central in the property to give all devices a chance to connect? Powerline adapters/wifi extenders with an ethernet port are very useful for this sort of thing

@Bojo Hello. Battery life in our two original wireless temperature sensors is two years. TRVs with originals and NiMh rechargeables last from 0.5 to 2 years. One TRV (from 24) ate Duracells every month and eventually failed.

I'd be tempted to use rechargeable NiMh batteries in the room stat and see how long they last.

The other suggestion is to request off-line scheduling.

  • @wateroakley what do you mean by request offline scheduling?
