All Tado X devices disconnected

  • A few days ago I contacted the support asking if there was an update on the issue resolution and as a result they asked me to book an appointment for a video call with a Tado representative to discuss the problem. I was surprised but pleased, at least there is some support happening. Today I had the call and this is a summary of it:

The guy I talked to was understanding of the frustration of the issue we are all having, he acknowledged that they are aware that multiple people are having this same problem and that resolving the issue is the top priority for the engineering team at this moment in time. In my case he confirmed I'm likely having two separate issues, one is the "all devices disconnecting" and one is the intermittent disconnection of some random TRVs. For the latter he also said that it's something the engineering team is working on, specifically there is the possibility it might be caused by the Thread network interfering with the WiFi 2.4.GHz frequency. More specifically it depends on what WiFi channel the access point is using. In my case my TPLink access points are using channel 2 and I can't manually change it. He mentioned that the Thread network used by Tado devices uses channel 15 of the 2.4GHz band which might overlap with the WiFi channel 2, hence causing intermittent disconnections. This is just a theory and unfortunately there is not much I can do to test it. I also have a Zigbee network running at home and that one is on channel 20 which should not interfere with anything else. He said that one thing they will likely implement is the capability of the Tado devices to change channel based on interference but there is not timeline for this.

    So to recap:

    • Tado is working on the "all devices disconnection" issue with high priority
    • Tado is also looking at the intermittent disconnection problem, probably caused by radio interference (but really who knows what causes it?!)
    • If you can, set your WiFi 2.4GHz network (and Zigbee if you have one) to a channel farthest from channel 15

So yes, we just have to wait and hope….

  • Same issue. First got rid of tplink deco p9. Then it worked for quiet a time with Fritz!Box router and extenders. Last week, again all devices offline. Followed your advice and switched the 2.4ghz channel on my FRITZ!box network. Took a couple of hours but now all devices back online. Amazing!!!
  • Just had to press and hold boost on X receiver to reset as all devices were offline (4 srv and 5 wired stats). Wouldn’t re-connect using troubleshooting on app inc rescanning QR. No indication what caused it.

I'm happy to report here all those issues seem solved, Receiver X reconnects without intervention and devices disconnections are rare and self-healing.

@ErMejoo thanks a lot for sharing your positive experience with the Receiver X!

  • I also have not had the "all devices disconnected" problem in a while or at least I did not notice it. It might also be due to the warmer weather which makes it less likely to notice. I still get random disconnection on most of the TRVs which resolves themselves. But still lead to a cold heater until the TRV is connected back. I noticed a lot of firmware updates, but for some reason not all TRVs are aligned on that
  • Hello folks - let me join the team of people not really happy with Tado X.

    Like many of you:

    • I am on a dedicated 2.4Ghz network (Tado and phone) for Tado
    • In Tado App -> settings -> select Wireless Receiver -> configure: it's all green. I don't have any other thread border router
    • TRV has software 253.3 and 232.1, thermometer 232.1, Wireless Receiver has 253.1
    • AP, Wireless receiver and all Tado accessories are in the same 3x3 meter room
    • Phone is Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (Android) - impossible to even onboard despite having deleted "Google Play Service" data and cache
    • Using iPad pro - and after many reset - I could at least on board devices
    • Problem is now that the thermostat and TRVs go offline frequently (dozen of minutes), while the Wireless Receiver remains online and claiming normal status.

At this point this is un-useable and I have rolled back and re-installed my previous Nest Thermostat. Do I need to return the whole Tado thing ?

Also support being chat only if putting me off - especially when you have such an immature product. This has however great potential, but it suffers from very poor execution and really unpredictable software.

  • Mine were all offline again today. Not sure how long they have been tbh…..havn't had to adjust anything for a week or two. But sure as sure, when you do, they are probably all showing offline.

Reboot the Tado wireless box and wait 30 mins and they will all come back on , one by one.

    flaky.

Later on they’ll launch Tado Y and start it all again.

I remain very enthusiastic, however now I'm also sharing my frustrating disconnect scenario — but with good results. I have the same issues as described previously by others (I originally installed everything around the beginning of April 2025). I've had these issues for 10+ days now. Below are my current Tado X devices, firmware, and status:

    1. Tado X Wired Smart Thermostats x 3: Firmware: 251.4, Offline
    2. Tado X Wireless Temperature Sensors x 2: Firmware: 251.3, Offline
    3. Tado X Smart Radiator Thermostats x 7: Firmware: 253.3, Offline
    4. Tado X Bridge x 1: Firmware: 259.1, Online
    5. Tado X Wireless Receiver x 1: Firmware: 253.1, Online

My initial troubleshooting approach has been to individually remove each Tado X device from my Tado account, factory reset everything multiple times (at least 3+), re-pair/re-register devices, etc. Ultimately, only the Bridge and Receiver remain online while everything else is stuck in an offline state (I have factory reset the Bridge/Receiver too).

The functionality of the TRV/Smart Radiator Thermostats are fine (and the wired thermostats), but no ability to manage components remotely, in any way, simply results in just a manual approach (not why I invested in these products).

However, there IS a light at the end of the tunnel! — if you have an Apple device behaving as a Homekit hub in your household, then that likely is the issue. I can attest that if I update and/or reboot my Homekit device the Tado X devices (which use Matter Thread) will eventually come back online. Depending on the Apple HomeKit software version, you may experience Tado X devices dropping offline randomly (just repeat the same reboot process for the culprit Apple HomeKit hub; no need to reboot other devices).

I'm really hoping the engineering teams are reviewing these posts and working on a fix for the long-term 😁

  • I had this issue a couple of times already. My setup is a Thermostat, a Bridge and 6 TRVs, all Tado X, and all would show as offline.

The first time, I solved it by factory resetting the Bridge and readding it to the app.

This last time, I "lost connection" yesterday and tried to reset the bridge by unplugging it, waiting 10s and plugging it back. It didn't work. But based on information from this thread, today I changed my home WiFi 2.4GHz from channel 6 (automatically selected by the router due to better quality / less interference) to 1 (furthest I could from 15) and, indeed, all the devices came back online, one at a time.

Quite unfortunate that the network isn't (yet?) smart enough to change channels when it detects interference like that, as I assume that the channels used by my neighbors could also trigger this issue.
  • I spoke too soon.
All my devices were offline again.
Changed my 2.4GHz channel to 11 (which should conflict even more with Tado X) and the devices are coming back online, again.
My bridge is on FW 259.1.
Hopefully this gets solved soon. Otherwise I'll be looking into returning them all and replacing with something else, maybe more Home Assistant friendly so I don't run into this kind of problem again.
  • It has been a while since my last update so here is one: in the past weeks I had continuous and random disconnections of any of my TRVs, there does not seem to be a consistent pattern. Maybe only one or two are really never disconnected.

However in the last 5 days everything has been working rock solid all of a sudden. What changed is:

    • I have been away on holiday (perhaps it's just my presence)
    • I have turn off my daughter night light which creates a WiFi network of its own to be controllable from the app (I have the feeling this might cause interference) even tho I never used it
    • I have purposely disconnected one TRV while keeping the valv slightly open: this is because recently I started hearing loud bangs from the radiators every time the boiler was firing up. It did not happen before so I'm not sure what it is but this is an attempt to check if it's a flow restriction problem. I also reduced the pump speed

I'll be back tomorrow and I'll see if things change for the worst again.
