tado° Server Problems (November 2024)
I tested it throughout yesterday evening and noticed that as the evening progressed the response times became quicker and by midnight they were almost instant.
Nothing has changed in my home regarding electronic devices so I’m thinking it’s got to be something to do with the server which is struggling with demand now everyone has turned on their heating.
I would like to know if it’s just me or if this is a wider problem

Hello all,
Thank you for your posts. We can confirm that an issue arose yesterday evening that has affected our application.
We have now deployed fixes and are monitoring the issue.
Apologies for the delay.
Edit (22.11.24): tado° is still facing server issues affecting a small subset of customers. Our recommendation is not to start re-setting or testing devices. If you are unsure whether you are being affected by the server problem, please contact support via our live chat.
Edit (25.11.24): Please be advised that scheduled temperature changes for v3+ and older devices might be executed with some delay (minutes) at the default time block switch hours (7 AM and 10 PM). This is not due to the aforementioned server issues, but is a consequence of large numbers of heat requests performed during peak hours.0 -
"a consequence of large numbers of heat requests performed during peak hours."
Does that mean that tado's servers are over capacity during these times? If so will this ever be resolved?
It is what I have been talking about for several days, coupled with the sever lag it would explain many of the problems I (and others) have been having recently.
Unfortunately if the answer is no, then I feel I must give up and return to the manual system I had before. Minutes may seem a tiny issue in the grand scheme of things, but in general my Horstmann Controller can turn on my heating when I want, not when a server somewhere decides it has enough spare capacity to see fit to turn my heating on.
Over-capacity servers also concern me in regards to their uptime. The chance of catastrophic failure of a server running hard is certainly increased, which could leave many of us with serious problems, especially if we are relying on tado's Frostwatch setting to kick in, in the event of a cold snap.
I won't hide the fact I am quite disappointed in my choice of smart heating controls right now.

I am using Tado Smart Thermostats for over 5 years. All of a sudden, from this evening I can not control any of my devices using the APP or Web. While web services communicating with each other, it seems that my Tado Bridge cannot send an Analogue Signal to any of the thermostats. Funny thing is that the actual temperature of the room is updating on the app! However, I can not control the temperature remotely.
One of my devices shows a "Download & Gear" symbol, while the "Link" LED on the bridge is continously blinking.
I have tried everything including removing batteries, power on & off.
Any ideas what is going on?

Same here. Schedules are still running I think. But any input from the app results in no change on the thermostats.
Even sending 'Hi' does not work.
I have observed some delays in processing (multiple hi, or temperate settings being executed). But nothing changes, until I manually set the thermostat.

Exactly, "HI" does not work. Even if you set the thermostat, after some minutes it will take the tempearature from the APP. It's lagging!

Same here, just at the time I registerd another radiator knob, Thought I did something wrong there. Luckely i'm not the only one

pfff and as always I was the lucky guy! at the specific time the issue appeared I was re-arrenging my rooms! I was 100% sure that I messed something up…really-really lucky… I even change my DNS setting on my router and almost removed half of my Tado devices in order to reconnect them. AMAZING, like I had nothing to do in my evening.

Maybe I should think about a heating system that doesn't has to rely on someones servers to work. Does Tado at least have a status page somewhere so I know when I can turn on the heating in my apartment on again?

@343max they do and it says everything is fine…. It’s not!1
-
yes me too in the UK. Sort it out TADO!!

I am having the same issue in the uk, nothing is working properly. I might switch to sonoff and work with home assistant, because this is bad that Tado are not even aware or are and are not saying anything.1

2 of my radiator stats would no longer connect they ended up binned. Now 2 smart ac stats will not connect i think perhaps Tado is trying to get all of us onto the new out system
Poor show Tado very disappointed0 -
definitely noticed much slower reaction times, is there a fix?
0 -
Yes, plus the reaction time to turn the boiler on or off is massively increased. Many rooms are getting a lot hotter before the system turns the boiler off. I can turn off all rooms on the app and I still hear the wired thermostat click on and fire the boiler.
I asked if there is a server lag or similar issue, but had no response from tado. My internet is fine.
I'm in the process of reverting to my old Drayton thermostats until tado respond with a fix.

We also noticed some lag very recently (last 1 or few days) and are investigating.

Finally, perhaps we have some light at the end of the tunnel?

It's been going on for days. I've been asking if it's server lag as it seemed obvious it was. The response from tado was……silence, until now.
Hopefully I can refit the wired thermostats soon, but not until they've confirmed a fix is applied and has been working for a few days.

I had the same problem yesterday and this morning, and after a tado bridge restart the times came back to normal.

I've received a couple of emails today from tado regarding this incident. You can subscribe to these alerts from their service status page
A fix has been applied and they are monitoring
@TadoUser2 I'm not sure this has been ongoing for days. I only saw the symptoms yesterday and Tado have investigated and are dealing with it. These things happen as has been seen with outages from other cloud service providers

Recent email update says a fix has been applied and Tado are monitoring

@davidlyall in which case I have been suffering something else. With nothing changing in the house and my internet healthy, I guess if this fix doesn't sort my issue out, I will have to send it all back. I can't have this lag as it affects the scheduling and the temperatures in which the app turns the heat on, and off.
I first reported this a week or so ago when my Zone 2 would only turn on when I increased the temperature to 25c (max). It seemed to be okay the following day, but then yesterday it was bad again.
All is working well at the moment, but that's largely due to the old Drayton Wheel Thermostat being refitted to stop my boiler breaking through constant switching. I cannot afford for my boiler to throw a fit with this cold snap coming.
I'll try it again in a couple of days, but from what you say, I rather think I know what the end result will be.

Hi, I think I’m suffering with the same problem. My system has not been working since I woke up yesterday morning. I have checked and re set all my thermostats, batteries, turned my wireless receiver I. And off, but I have no heating . If a fix has been applied can someone tell me how to apply it to my system please? Thanks0

Whenever I find tado being weird I usually find resetting the main thermostat that is connected to the boiler is what sorts it out. It seems to get confused every so often for no reason at all.

Sorry to report but there is still a lag of about +/- 15 seconds for any command to be executed including the blink. Located in the UK and reset the gateway as well.0
-
I have also still a lag when i change the tempetemperature or let display blink, say "Hi". Also see that today around 3:55pm(Dutch Time) it was suddenly offline. Is not working like it used to. Response is very slow.
Please fix it.

Just tried the blink display on several of my devices and none responded at all. Again, this was normally almost instant.
Definitely something not right with the server given how many people are still observing performance issues.

It was rectified but problem seems to have reoccurred and a significant delay is now evident again. A simple blink is not responding for several minutes. Come on Tado, sort this out0
-
I too am still experiencing delays responding to commands. The blink command is taking up to 20 seconds whereas previously it was near instantaneous.0
-
My system is again showing a significant lag when issuing a command. This is the same that happened earlier in the week and appears worse this time with a simple blink taken ages to show. Tado, please fix this asap as it’s very cold in the UK and this problem is exacerbated by the lack of information on this ongoing issue1
