tado° Server Problems (November 2024)

Is this why my heating doesn't come on sometimes? Waken up to a 13 dgr house. It all shows as running but no heat to rads. All kicks in when I run a tap weirdly, can't get to the bottom of it. Is this maybe the reason or anyone else had this issue?1

Agreed. I just tested the Blink command on my Wireless Thermostat, it has increased from a 20 second delay last night to in excess of 1 minute. When I first fitted tado (two wired thermostats, 2 wireless thermostats and 8 TRVs) the Blink command was received by the device within 2 seconds.
I reinstalled my Wired Thermostats because of the recent "fix" employed, but if anything its worse now than before I uninstalled them due to this lag issue .
If tado are convinced there is no lag their end, please can you advise things to check our end like router settings? For example, I am using DoT via Google servers, might this be causing a lag?

@siallwhite77 , I assume this is a combi boiler system? Given that you get heat in your rads when you run the hot water, sounds like something has failed in the boiler rather than this being a Tado issue. Probably need to get a heating engineer to look at it

@davidlyall I forwarded these comments to our app developers. So it should be on their radar.

IV had the boiler looked at on more than one occasion, all's good with it🤷0

I put in a new mesh WiFi system on the 19th november with the tado bridge connected to a hub. It all seemed to be working fine until I was out of the house later and tried turning the heating on and it said I was offline. At the time I thought it was the new WiFi system and came back and switched the tado bridge back to my old system. Eventually got the heating to turn on. I had guests and they were cold !!
Now looking at this thread it may not be my new WiFi setup. I had noticed slower responses, especially to trvs, a thermostat and the relay which were in very close proximity to the bridge.
Now will see if I can get bridge on to my new
WiFi setup.
There are aspects to tado and any smart system that I do not like. For one, relying in their servers, so what happens if there is a problem at their end like the other day ? And it goes on longer ?
Also I don't like using the smart trvs on all my rads because I don't like how they can call for heat and turn my boiler on even to just heat one room. I have guests staying who have twisted the whole TRV off the rad leaving the valve fully open giving false readings, so they are not user friendly. I prefer to put ordinary trvs in bedrooms for easier control of heating and keep the smart ones in other areas.
I still like the system and a few more temperature readers should do it for my house. But I'll keep my old trvs and wired boiler controller just in case.1 -
This is definitely still an issue @Emcee @Rob I have been moving devices all round the house, doing multiple resets and spending more than I should be on this, assuming it was my problem to then see this thread and others having the same issue.
I cant even get my TRV's to blink without having to wait minutes everything is just painfully slow1 -
I too am still unable to control my Thermostat from the App. However, control works through Apple HomeKit but not through Tado App. What is happening please?

Still have the issue, has yours been rectified?0

I’m getting no where with Tado and the latest suggestion is that because my schedules are all set to the same time to come on it’s overloading the server. I can’t believe that is what they are suggesting and getting very frustrated by this ongoing issue. Come on Tado, your reputation is getting damaged in each passing hour.1

So glad I have found this, we have gone mad trying to figure out what is happening with our system. Woke up on Wednesday 20th Nov with no heating, changed batteries, restarted system etc etc and suddenly it was working....no I'm putting my 3 children to bed and 2 of there rooms are not working. What is Tado doing about this issue?1
-
I'm having exactly the same issue. I thought it was a problem at my end and went around resetting and repairing everything until I saw this thread!
It's taking well over a minute for comms between the app or Alexa and my Tado devices, and for my devices to respond. It's normally instant.
Come on Tado, get this sorted! Or at least respond and tell us what the issue is.0 -
Also posted in other thread about this issue.
Experiencing painfully slow response times on a system that, since installation, has worked almost instantaneously.
Wasted time trying to 'fix' a system after I got home and my partner said that the heating wasn't working. Little did he know that it was working, but he just had to wait about two minutes for heating to respond and come on after asking Alexa to set the room temperature.
Clearly a 'server side' issue.
Sort this out Tado please!1 -
So I'm experiencing slightly different effects to some people I think. My smart schedule is working fine (touch wood), however loading the graphs in the app is really slow and hitting blink display takes over a minute for the devices to respond. I assume, therefore, if I were to perform a manual control action via the app that would be similarly slow, though I've not tried that as I've no need to.
Tado definitely still have an issue. I wonder if the servers are struggling to keep up with demand…

Currently the only way we can get heating is pressing the boost button on the wireless thermostat ATM.
The TRVs open eventually but there's never a call for heat on the boiler.
Seems like some major issues.0 -
Hello there fellow Tado users.
I have been using Tado (Tado Wireless Smart Thermostat V3+ Starter Kit) for the last couple of years without any issues.
I recently observed the following strange behavior: When I turn the heating on or off (either using the ground floor thermostat or the radiator thermostats on the upper floors), or when I adjust the temperature, there is a noticeable delay. This delay happens both in displaying the adjustment on the screen (more than 2 minutes) and in executing the change itself. I have restarted all devices and my router, but the problem still persists. Have you encountered a similar issue? Do you think I should try the pairing process all again?

Yep, the lag is a joke. Luckily I can control my Thermostat through Apple Home kit without delay. However, as the evening is wearing on the messages I tried through the Tado App throughout the day have started to come through. I have now had to disconnect the bridge from the internet other wise my boiler will be firing up at all times of the early hours.
Tado continue to say there are no issues - utter nonsense.
Come sort your systems out before I put my old manual thermostat back on0 -
I can confirm this as happening recently. Initially I thought it was my network. This is disturbing, especially to those not tech savvy. In the past commands were executed pretty much instantaneously, now delay of 30 - 60 seconds are the norm.

Same problem on my side for several days now...0

Still the same this morning and I’m starting to think this is a much bigger problem than we know. Am I right in thinking Tado have just introduced a new system which could be related to the problem?0
-
I am removing all tado equipment until this is sorted. I’m micromanaging the system. My old dumb TRVs were so much better than what we are experiencing now.
I will monitor this thread in the hope that one day I can reinstall.0 -
A response from Tado this morning:
Thanks for the report, I have forwarded this to our server team.
They will look into this, as it is not just you who is having these issues.0 -
Can I suggest that anyone experiencing the same problem to raise a ticket through the support section. Hopefully that will spur them into action.
My response to Tado this morning
Please can you let the server team know that during tests last night I found the response to a command got quicker as the evening progressed and was almost back to normal at midnight. This would suggest there is something critically wrong with the server capacity and the response delays are being directed by demand.
If that is the case then Tado need to find a solution asap otherwise there are going to be lots of disgruntled customers.0 -
I've been told there are no problems, several times.
I've been suffering lag for weeks now. They applied a "fix" a couple of days ago which seemed to work, temporarily, but the lag has just been getting worse since the 'fix' was applied.
I have a stinking cold, and feel poorly, but I am spending the day slowly removing the tado TRVs and replacing them with the old dumb TRVs, then I will put my Drayton manual thermostats back on the system so I can get some heat where and when I want it.
I might see if Amazon will do me a refund as they're doing a deal on other brands right now.
It might be because I am feeling really grotty right now, but I am getting increasingly fed up with tado at the moment.
